After purchasing my first home in a blur, my initial motivation for pursuing a real estate license was pure self-defense! In 1986, my corporate employer wanted me to transfer from LA to Seattle and would pay for a week’s house hunting trip. A good part of the move’s attraction for me was Seattle’s “affordable” housing (believe it or not, it was affordable then, especially compared to LA). I looked around with a Realtor, chose a house, my offer was accepted, I got an FHA mortgage at 12% (a good rate in those days) and at closing I signed where I was told to sign and paid what I was told to pay. However, once this process was over, I vowed never to go through it again as such a dummy and I took the WA State Real Estate licensing course at night school and then the state exam. Of course, I was still corporately employed at the time so my license hung inactive in Olympia until a few years later when my employer wanted to transfer me out of Seattle.
Seattle was “home” by then and I did not want to leave. Fortunately, I had an option – real estate! Also fortunately, I had married by then so I was not looking at starvation during those early months as a Realtor.
The point of all this is that I promise you will understand every step of the process when you hunt for a house with me. I hold nothing back and I am motivated, truly, by your best interest.
Together, we will review every property on the MLS that meets your search criteria, visit the properties that appeal or that you should see for the purpose of market knowledge and write an offer only when you feel comfortable that you are making an informed choice. Then, from inspection to closing (and beyond closing, actually) you will have my total support. I am patient, knowledgeable, reliable and responsive, a positive thinker and a good negotiator. I am also, by the way, skilled at selling houses since I know what draws buyers. I love living in Anacortes (we moved here twelve years ago) and I believe in the value of Anacortes real estate. I work hard to keep my listings competitive and I advertise widely.
My pleasure in real estate comes from the people I meet and I look forward to meeting you. Please give me a call or send me an email when the time comes that you need a Realtor.
